Boko Haram militants ‘kill 24 at funeral’ in Nigeria

Militant Islamist group Boko Haram has shot dead at least 24 people at a funeral wakein north-eastern Nigeria, officials and witnesses have said.
The militants stormed into Kuda village in Adamawa state on motorbikes and opened fire on women and children at the wake, a witness said.

The village is situated near Sambisa forest, where the militants are active.

Despite the coalition forces of Chad, Cameroon, Niger, Benin the group has continued to carry out hit-and-run raids in the north-east and in neighbouring states.

In December, Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari said Boko Haram had been “technically defeated”.
