By on October 8, 2010

Zambia’s economy should grow by 6.4 percent in 2011 from a projected 6.6 percent this year, Finance minister Situmbeko Musokotwane said on Friday.

In a budget speech to parliament, he said domestic borrowing in Africa’s largest copper producer was expected to drop to 1.4 percent of GDP in 2011 from a target of 2 percent in 2010.

Musokotwane maintained the government’s earlier end-year inflation target of 8 percent for 2010, adding that inflation should ease to 7 percent by the end of next year.
